Disability Prevention among Children and Outreach Clinics in Karabakh & Yerevan

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are about 10,000 newborns, 200 disabled children (to be   identified) and 12 trained doctors of the targeted regions. Indirect beneficiaries are the families of the newborns and disabled children.

Project Areas:  Stepanakert, Mardakert, Qashatagh, Hadrut regions of NKR and 4 maternal homes in Yerevan

Project Goal: To reduce DDH disability among children and improve the quality of life of disabled children in Stepanakert, Qashatagh, Hadrut, and Mardakert regions of NKR as well as in Yerevan.

Project Objectives:

  1. To approve a syllabus (training module and guidelines) by the MoH of NKR for the ultrasound doctors training on hip disorders.
  2. By the end of 2013 to improve the knowledge and skills of 5 medical doctors from targeted 4 regions of NKR and 7 doctors from 4 maternity homes of Yerevan in prevention and management of DDH.
  3. By the end of 2013 to improve the quality of life of disabled children of 4 regions of NKR by conducting 2 outreach clinics for medical examination.
  4. By the end of 2013 to improve technical capacities of 4 maternity homes of targeted regions of NKR by providing infant ultrasound screening tables.
