Disability Prevention Among Children and Outreach Clinics in Armenia - Phase IV

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are about 7,000 newborns, 250 disabled children (to be   identified) and 10 trained doctors of the targeted regions. Indirect beneficiaries are the families of the newborns and disabled children.

Project Areas:  Amasia, Ashotsq, Artik, Maralik cities of Shirak region, Vanadzor city of Lori region and Kapan city of Syunik region of Armenia.

Project Goal: To reduce DDH disability among children and improve the quality of life of disabled children in Amasia, Ashotsq, Artik, Maralik cities of Shirak region, Vanadzor city of Lori region, Kapan city of Syunik region and in Yerevan city.

Project Objectives:

  1. By the end of 2013 to improve the knowledge and skills of 10 medical doctors from 6 targeted regions and 4 maternity homes of Yerevan in prevention and management of DDH.
  2. By the end of 2014 to improve the quality of life of disabled children of 3 targeted regions of Armenia by conducting 3 outreach clinics for medical examination.
  3. By the end of 2014 to improve technical capacities of 6 maternity homes of targeted regions of Armenia by providing infant ultrasound screening tables.
