Sevan Children’s Rehabilitation Center Success Story: Angelina Saneyan

Angelina Saneyan was born on May 8, 2021 in Tsovagyugh and was diagnosed with Down syndrome. Her family applied to the Sevan Children’s Rehabilitation Center when Angelina was 5 months old.

After the center opened, Angelina was our youngest patient. Up to this day, the center’s staff has walked a long road with her. She receives therapy from all specialists, a psychologist, speech therapist, special education teacher, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and art therapist.

Every skill has come to her with great difficulty. She learned to stand and walk over a long period of time-by the age of 2.5- but only with the help of a specialist. Squatting, bending down and climbing stairs were especially difficult for her. She participated in daily life skills, but performed them carelessly. She also had pronounced sensory difficulties.

Since June 5, 2023, Angelina has been included in the program “Continuous Treatment at the Sevan Children’s Rehabilitation Center”. She attends the center without interruptions and as a result we have seen  significant progress. She now walks confidently, runs, squats and climbs stair while holding on to support. She has a vocabulary but still does not speak well, however she can describe and show things through gestures and emotions.

We call Angelina a joyful angel. If she is at the center it is immediately noticeable- she goes into every room to say hello, receive her compliment and then go to her therapist. She is very sociable, though she does not let everyone get close to her. Angelina already calls the specialists by their names and has her favorite specialist. She loves communicating with the other children, insisting that they talk to her. She is very naughty but her smile softens all our hearts. We learn from her how to be happy, ignoring life’s challenges.

We still have much work to do with her, but her confidence and fighting spirit make us move forward with optimism, believe in miracles and be sure that the goodness named Angelina will win.
