Education for Children with Special Medical Needs

Beneficiaries Description: At least 15 children who are to be absent from school because of their long-term medical treatment

Project Area: Yerevan

Project Goal: to offer education in form of one-to-one tuition in hospital or at home to children (aged 10-17) unable to attend school at least a month or more because of their medical needs, to help them keep up with their studies

Project Objectives:

  • Offer individual tutoring lessons on important school subjects to at least 15 and up to 30 children, whether in hospital or at home, who have a condition which is likely to lead to prolonged or recurring periods of absence from school, 
  • Provide education of at least similar quality to that available in school, following to a broad and balanced curriculum at schools,
  • Ensure a favorable and friendly environment during the educational process with the children with medical needs helping them and their family members to feel cared and loved, psychologically strengthened,
  • Work in close partnership with all stakeholders (hospital, university, school, parents, children) to communicate the project learning to respective government bodies to make policy level changes ensuring proper education to children who have long-absence from school because of illness.
