Warm Shoes to Schoolchildren from Vulnerable Families 2011

Beneficiaries Description: 579 school age children from socially vulnerable families from remote villages of Amasia, Ashotsk, Chambarak & Vardenis regions and the families of these children. Indirect beneficiaries are local shoemakers and their immediate families.

Project Areas: Amasia and Ashotsq regions of Shirak marz, Chambarak and Vardenis regions of Gegharkunik marz

Project Goal: to help guarantee that school age children from poor families from different Northern Marzes of Armenia have winter shoes to attend school and receive proper education. The secondary goal is to reduce the risk for frequent illnesses among school age children during cold winter months. An indirect goal is to support shoemaking industry in Armenia. 

Project Objectives:

  • To provide warm shoes to school age children from socially vulnerable families from Shirak and Gegharkunik Marzes of Armenia by the end of November 2011.
  • To temporarily improve the socio-economic conditions of the families of the beneficiary children by reducing the cost of sending children to school.
  • To stimulate shoemaking industry in Armenia by providing temporary source of income to local shoemakers.
