Students’ Civic Engagement – University Debate Clubs

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are students of 7 universities. At least 280 students from each university will be directly involved in project main activities. Indirect beneficiaries of the project are university administrations, families and friends of the students and the communities the students come from

Project Area: Gyumri (Shirak), Gavar (Gegharkunik), Vanadzor (Lori), Ijevan (Tavush), Goris and Kapan (Syunik), Yerevan

Project Goal: To empower the university students and provide them an opportunity and space for promotion of civic participation and human rights culture development in Armenia via creation of university debate clubs and organization of structured debate competitions/tournaments. 

Project Objectives:

  1. To enhance debating skills and promote debate ethics among at least 280 students of the 7 universities.
  2. To develop research skills of at least 280 students (at least 40 students in each university) for preparation of the debates and provide space for dialogue with government officials and CS representatives. 
  3. To promote civic involvement, formation of positive attitude for establishment of democratic environment, and to contribute to human rights culture development in Armenian society.
