Jinishian Memorial Foundation

About Us
Our History

Jinishian Memorial Foundation (JMF) began work in Armenia in 1993 and became legally registered in Armenia as a local foundation in 1999.

JMF is primarily sponsored by the Jinishian Memorial Program (JMP) of the Presbyterian Church USA.  The Jinishian Memorial Program (JMP) is a charitable trust that was established on May 17, 1966 by the bequest of Vartan H. Jinishian in memory of his parents. Since 1966 JMP has provided basic services and direct relief to millions of poor Armenians in Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, South America, Jordan and Armenia, who have lived in the midst of conflict and instability.

Our Mission, Goals and Strategies

MISSION
JMF enables Armenians in need to move from poverty and despair to self-sufficiency and hope – through relief, development and spiritual uplift.

GOALS
Our overriding goal is to support durable solutions to Armenia’s social and economic problems. We inspire and motivate people to realize the potential of their communities by enriching and expanding the possibilities of their own lives. At the same time, we recognize that there continue to be many vulnerable groups in Armenia that are unable to help themselves and require ongoing social assistance.

STRATEGIES

Taking a comprehensive approach, JMF aims to:

  • Reduce poverty by supporting the development of sustainable economic activities.
  • Empower Armenians at all levels of the society to work together to overcome  social and economic problems.
  • Support the spiritual, intellectual and social development of young Armenians.
