Disability Prevention Among Children and Outreach Clinics in Armenia-Phase II

Beneficiaries Description: Direct beneficiaries of the project are about 700 disabled children (identified) and 10 trained doctors of the targeted regions. Indirect beneficiaries are about 2670 newborns (per year) from targeted marzes.

Project Areas:  Gegharkounik, Kotayk, Tavush and Shirak marzes

Project Goal: To reduce DDH disability among children and to improve the quality of life of disabled children in Gegarkounik, Kotayk, Tavush & Shirak marzes of Armenia.

Project Objectives:

  1. By the end of 2011 to improve the knowledge and skills of 10 medical doctors (4 from Gegarkunik, 2 from Kotayk, 2 from Tavush & 2 from Shirak marzes) from targeted regions in prevention and management of DDH.
  2. By the end of 2011 to improve the quality of life of disabled children by conducting 4 outreach clinics for medical examination of disabled children of Gegarkounik, Kotayk, Tavush and Shirak marzes of Armenia.
  3. By the end of 2011 to improve technical capacities of maternity homes of targeted regions by providing infant ultrasound screening tables.
